Message of Thanks

Text of motion: That this General Synod send the following message to the Honourable Clyde Wells, Premier of Newfoundland:; Dear Mr. Premier:; The 32nd Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada thanks you and the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador for the warmth of your welcome and especially for your great gift of hospitality accorded us at the Provincial Dinner. We felt honoured to be the first national audience to hear such a clear and well reasoned policy statement on an issue which affects us as members of a national body and as individuals within the family of provinces and territories. While there might be a variety of opinions among us about the specific position you articulated, we applaud your sincerity, courage and loyalty to province and nation. May God give you grace to pursue your convictions within the complexities of public office. We will hold you and your "smiling land" in our prayers. CARRIED Act 120
