- Prologue
- Canon H.B. Barrett presented the report and advised N.E.C. that the Committee had no definite plan of action - just concerns. It had identified certain situations, but did not wish to continue further study unless instructed by N.E.C. to do so. It was drawn to the attention of members that under the restructuring, the responsibility for the work of the Commission on the Structure of the [Canadian] Church had been placed in the hands of the Long Range Planning Committee. It was agreed that a need existed to help discover new ways of spiritual development.
- Text of motion
- That the National Executive Council instructs the Long Range Planning Committee to coordinate existing studies on the structure of the Canadian Church, and to initiate other necessary surveys and studies to enable the development of goal and strategy alternatives, in order that the Church may confront and resolve this issue quickly and effectively.
