- Prologue
- Mrs. Gladysann Bryce reminded the Bishops that the Consultation, which was held at St. John's College, Winnipeg, from the 21st to 28th of May, 1987, was authorized by the General Synod in 1986. It was funded by the Program budget, the Isabel Johnston Bequest and the Anglican Foundation, along with contributions of $125.00 from each participant. Every Canadian diocese was represented.
- Mrs. Bryce said that a great diversity of interests and concerns were brought to the conference by the participants.
- Mr. Kingston informed the Bishops that, as a result of the Conference, work groups on marriage preparation and family wellness would be established, and that a national network has now been set up. Mr. Kingston said that marriage preparation is not the largest adult program in the church.
- The Conference report has been sent to diocesan program directors, all participants, and the members of the Program Committee.
- Text of motion
- That Bishops in their Dioceses encourage programs of Marriage Preparation and explore ways of nurturing marriages;
- That, where possible, these be encouraged through diocesan program departments, diocesan continuing education committees, and amongst new ordinands' groups.
- That, where possible, resources for upgrading skills in areas of marriage preparation and nurturing be encouraged amongst the clergy. CARRIED #20-2-88
