- The Church Society of the Diocese of Quebec was started in 1842 to be a missionary society by and for Anglicans in the Diocese of Quebec. Membership fees and other money raised would go toward paying clergy stipends, building new churches, distributing books and tracts, opening Sunday schools and granting scholarships to theological students. Direction was given by a central committee of clergy and lay people.
