- Notes
- New African Worker Through the Missionary Society and the Woman's Auxiliary, the Anglican Church of Canada has undertaken support for two years of a moral welfare worker for the diocese of Uganda in East Africa. Miss Vera Morton, an English social worker who has had 13 year's experience in Nigeria, has been appointed to this position. Her task is to help Africans who have left their tribal homes for employment in the towns and cities to cope with the problems resulting from separation from their traditional community life with its moral sanctions. The request from the Diocese of Uganda that the Canadian Church should sponsor this work was brought to Canada by Professor T.W. Barnett of Wycliffe College, Toronto, who visited Africa last fall under the auspices of the World Student Christian Federation.
