- The Bishops at the 1958 Lambeth Conference passed two resolutions on Christian Literature and two on Communication. These call for "the co-operation of the whole Anglican Communion, in these ways: 1. In every language area, steps must be taken to plan, produce, and distribute, all the necessary literature. 2. It must everywhere be recognized that literature is necessary for worship, training ordinands, the guidance of the clergy, instructing and equipping all Christian people (not forgetting their children), and commending Christianity to those outside the Church. 3. This necessary literature must be planned in conjunction with other means of communication; e.g. T.V., films, radio, the press, magazines, religious drama; as opportunity offers: 4. All this involves finding, training, and maintaining, expert personnel, and financing their work. .... So the S.P.C.K. consulted many bishops at the time of the Lambeth Conference, and has since asked all diocesan bishops, the principals of theological colleges, and various other knowledgeable people in those parts of the Church overseas which it serves, to help it make this 'Survey'. -- Intro., p. 2-3.
