- "The purpose of this book is to bring a deeper understanding of the 1997 issue in Hong Kong, to state that the future of Hong Kong is far from being satisfactorily secured. In fact, there are a number of acute problems which Hong Kong now faces. Some of these are internal problems while others are due to the fact that neither China nor Britain have honored their pledge to safeguard the interests of Hong Kong's people. In fact, both sovereign states have both broken the Joint Declaration regarding the future of Hong Kong, an agreement which they solemnly signed and table at the United Nations in 1984. This book should be seen as a sequel to two other publications in which I attempted to bring some clarity to this topic: 'Hong Kong 1997: A Christian Perspective' published by the urban rural mission desk of the Christian Conference of Asia (CCA-URM) in December 1991 and 'Hong Kong Braves 1997' produced by the Hong Kong Christian Institute (HKCI) in February 1994". -- Preface.
