- "In approaching the great problems of Marriage, Birth Control, and Sexual Purity we are conscious that we are called upon to deal with subject of immeasurable importance to the human race, and concerning which nations and individuals look with longing desire for the help and guidance of the Christian Church. .... All will agree that there can be no subject of graver importance than those connected with the sacredness of the family. The family is God's first institution upon earth, the cradle alike of Church and State, and marriage is the foundation of the family. Where family life is dishonoured, wedded unfaithfulness lightly regarded, parental responsibility neglected, filial respect and obedience slighted, there, we may be sure, society is rotten at the core. We tremble for the future of a state or nation where lax theories concerning domestic life gain ground. Even laxer practice will certainly prevail". -- pp. 3, 4.
