- Notes
- "When two Provinces of the Dominion enact minimum wage laws, the subject becomes of sufficiently practical importance for Canadians to consider it carefully, and the Editorial Board deems no apology necessary for presenting to the Church a statement, necessarily short and compressed, of some of the more fundamental considerations which underlie the theory of the minimum wage. A law which says to employers, `You shall not employ anyone in your factory or store for less wages than those which the law prescribes', is well worthy of the most careful consideration. It is a very radical law, one that strikes at the very roots of the whole concept of free competition. At first sight it may appear to be simple; careful investigation will show it is not (p. 2)".
