- "Michelle Hauser's story of a fruitless quest for matching dishes at a thrift store ('Six pasta bowls and domestic tyranny', January 2019) brought to mind a similar, but happier, tale from our church's Giant Garage Sale. Among the donated glassware was a beautiful set -- well, almost a set -- of seven sherry glasses. We thought we'd done the best we could when a man offered to buy six: a wedding gift for his daughter, who need never know what a bargain they were ! But what to do with the one lonely glass left behind ? Imagine our surprise when a lady came to the table later that same afternoon and said, 'That's exactly the glass I need to replace the one I broke !' Clearly there is a place for us all in the kingdom of heaven !" [Text of entire article.]
