- Notes
- "I can't help wondering at what the House of Bishops finds (besides lint) when it engages in navel gazing ('No eucharist before baptism, bishops' say', June 2011, p. 1). Do they even pay attention to the words they speak at the eucharist ? There is no reference to baptism (or for my generation, confirmation) in either the Book of Alternative Services (BAS) or the Book of Common Prayer (BCP) as a prerequisite to receiving communion. Nor do I recall any biblical references indicating that those who were with Jesus at the Last Supper, which is the model for the eucharist, being baptized".
