- Notes
- Dorothy and Ron Thicke are Volunteers in Mission from the Diocese of New Westminster serving in Tanzania. They are currently at "the halfway point of our Kiswahili course, we are struggling along with the 43 other students". "An Anglican Church Army pastor, a Rwandan refugee, discussed the refugee problem. He works in the largest of the camps, over one million people on 14 square kilometres. Although Rwanda is empty of all but soldiers, fear is so great that no one dares return to take advantage of the help offered. What can we do for them ? They need everything, but most of all, pray for peace and hope". "In the rest of the country there is fear of Islamic extremists. Burnings and attempts to burn Christian schools and pressure on the Muslim president to make this a Moslem country has made Christians uneasy".
