- Notes
- "'Disarming the Secular Gods' and 'One Lord, One Faith', previous books by Peter Moore, Rector of Little Trinity Church, Toronto, have been supplemented by another stimulating book, 'A Church To Believe In'. This ecclesiological study is intended to give a clear understanding of the nature of the Church as the body of Christ. The purpose of the writer is to provide a vision of the comprehensiveness of the Church. The Church to be truly comprehensive must possess five essential characteristics. Lacking any of these, the Church will be significantly deficient. The adjectives used to describe these characteristics are: evangelical, catholic, reformed, charismatic and liberal. Each of these categories is defined more closely in the five chapters which follow the opening introduction. An attractive feature of this study is that each is exemplified by an outstanding person within the life of the Church" (p. 150). "A study guide with pertinent questions makes this book particularly helpful for study groups. This is a book which will reward careful study and discussion by members of all denominations, as well as by Anglicans for whom it is primarily intended" (p. 152).
