Spearheaded by Mr. Gillespie Wright, an active proponent of long-term care homes, a community society and centre were established in the early 1970s to provide day programs for adults and seniors. A truly ecumenical endeavour, which involved Anglicans, Roman Catholics, Mennonites, Presbyterians, United and AFC [Anglican Foundation of Canada], support was given to this centre which provided recreation, reactivation, physical, occupational and aquatic therapy to a large number of day residents".
