- Notes
- The author, Bishop of Pelotas in Brazil, describes the situation in Brazil where tobacco is a major cash crop in a country where many are terribly poor. He discusses the morality of first world countries encouraging third world nations to grow tobacco which requires a lot of dangerous pesticides and which causes addiction and death for those who use it. In addition, most of the "profits" from the tobacco crop go directly to the British and American parent tobacco companies.
