- Notes
- Edward Robinson is the director of the Centre for the Study of Spirituality and the Arts in England. The reviewer comments: "What is to be grasped is that artists need to be sees as means by which God is making himself present to us. What we need is a theology of the arts, as my artist friend said, and not art for theology. Robinson's book, in the end, leaves us with this challenge, and rather than sharing some potential solutions creates additional problems. Perhaps we need to realize how impoverished the church is in this area before we can truly move forward. Nonetheless, it is hard to live easily with the problem he presents, and I was left with a bit of an aching sense that an answer somehow, was being held back".
