Marriage and Related Matters

Prologue: That this General Synod ask the House of Bishops (with the assistance of the Sub-Committee on Marriage and Related Matters and such other assistance as it may desire) to frame a policy for consistent pastoral ministry to men and women living together outside formal marriage.; An amendment was suggested to insert the words "mindful of the spirit and bond of marriage towards which God calls us" after "Synod" in the first line. The amendment was agreed to by the mover and seconder of the motion.; The motion now reads:; That this General Synod, mindful of the spirit and bond of marriage towards which God calls us, ask the House of Bishops (with the assistance of the Sub-Committee on Marriage and Related Matters and such other assistance as it may desire) to frame a policy for consistent pastoral ministry to men and women living together outside formal marriage.
