Prologue

The Primate stated that he had received a letter from Mr. Carter of Ottawa with the request for a National Day of Prayer for Canadian unity.

Text of motion

"That the House ask the Primate to arrange a day or week, at a time to be chosen by him after due consultation, and if possible, that the decision be shared with the other churches." DEFEATED.

Notes

It was suggested that further discussion on this subject take place when additional information is available concerning the present status of the '78 program of the "Week of Prayer."

The Primate read to the House a memorial concerning the Day of Prayer that was presented to the Synod of the Diocese of Ottawa, and also read a portion of the letter from Mr. Carter.
