Matrimony

Text of motion: That this General Synod request the Council of the General Synod, in consultation with the Faith, Worship and Ministry Committee, to create a task force to review the Marriage Canon with particular reference to:; a) the difference between a civil marriage and a religious marriage; b) alternatives to the current matrimonial commissions; c) revision of the forms of application for permission to remarry; d) the provision requiring marriages to be held in church buildings; e) the relationship of the Table of Kindred and Affinity to the Marriage (Prohibited Degrees) Act; f) common law marriages; The mover and seconder agreed to change the word "marriages" in f) to "relationships".; The amended resolution was then put and - CARRIED Act 86
