- Prologue
- "You will, I am sure, remember sending to me the resolutions of the National Executive Council of the Anglican Church of Canada which concerned (a) the possible expansion of the Anglican Council of Missionary Strategy; and (b) the possibility of adding a research assistant to my staff at Compasrose.
- Both these resolutions were fully discussed at the meeting with my advisers in Kandy, Ceylon.
- I am asked to say that the unanimous decision of the advisers was that no action should be taken at the moment, chiefly because the whole matter of the structures in the Anglican Communion, of which the ACMS is an important part, will be discussed at the Lambeth Conference in 1968, and on that subject I am to write a preparatory paper.
- As a consequence, it seems wise not to make additions to the staff of Compasrose at least at the level of research assistants, when the whole concept of the Executive Officer and his relation to the Communion is at my request also to be discussed at the next Lambeth Conference.
- I am grateful indeed for the support of the Anglican Church of Canada in these and related matters, and I am sure you will understand why we think it inappropriate to take action at this particular time,
- With every good wish,
- Yours sincerely,
- Ralph: Cariboo"
