- That to enact Part 2 of Canon XXVII, in accordance with Message of the Upper House, concurred in by the Lower House, at the 17th Session of General Synod (see Journal for 1949, pp.51,52,79), the following action be taken:
- By deleting the words "or dissolved by civil action" in the heading of Part 2;
- By numbering the several paragraphs and portions of paragraphs of said Part 2 as section of Part 2 in manner following:
- 1. "Except as hereinafter provided," etc;
- 2. "Any person," etc;
- 3. "Such application shall set forth," etc;
- 4. "If the bishop finds that the decree of the civil court was one for the annulment of the marriage," etc;
- 4(a). "If the bishop finds that the decree of said civil court was one for the dissolution," etc;
- 5. "The clergyman solemnizing," etc;
- 6. "The foregoing sections," etc;
- 7. "Nothing herein contained," etc;
- Sections will be referred to as renumbered in the following provisions.
- In section 2 delete the words "or dissolved";
- In section 3(1) delete the words "or dissolution";
- In section 3(2) delete the words "or dissolving";
- Delete section 4(a);
- In section 5 delete the figures "7 or 8" and substitute the figure "4";
- In section 6 delete the words and figures "4 to 9 inclusive."
