- "The Secretary General in his review reminded the Council of the Communion's commitment to ecumenism. The Council benefited greatly from major plenary addresses by Christians from other traditions -- Dr. Alan Boesak of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches, Professor Nicholas Lash from the Roman Catholic Church and Dr. Harding Meyer from the Lutheran Church. The report of the ecumenical section recommended that membership of the Council of those churches which have come into existence as a result of Anglicans uniting with Christians of other traditions, should move from being token membership to normal membership. .... The emergence of Networks, such as Peace and Justice and the Family and Community Networks within the Anglican Communion was seen as a significant development in the last few years. The Council asked its Standing Committee to appoint a working party which would prepare guidelines for the establishment and operation of Networks". -- Preface, p. vii, ix.
