"'New Theology No. 2' is a self-contained book. After this paragraph no further reference will be made to its predecessor. The numeral in the title reminds us, however, that there was a predecessor -- a small green paperback which brought together fifteen articles we felt to be representative of the variety and richness of recent theological thought. .... Time has told and a succeeding installment is here. We are not alone in our curiosity about new achievements in theology, nor have we been disappointed in our search for significant articles published during the past year and a half". -- [Intro.], p. 7.
