- "The World Consultation on Leisure-Tourism, which met in the Evangelical Academy at Tutzing, Germany from September 26th to October 2nd 1969, attracted representatives working in the field from 20 nations. .... The consultation recognized that the increase in leisure and the expansion of travel now makes possible to a greater extent than ever before the 'life more abundant' which was the gift of Jesus Christ himself to the world. It was these possibilities of a richer life for all men which encouraged the consultation also to take seriously elements in leisure-tourism development which threatened human values and human dignity. .... The consultation recorded its conviction that there is need now for all world and national organizations, the United Nations, governments, tourist and travel bodies, the World Council of Churches and the Vatican to recognize that leisure-tourism is broadening out to become a major dimension in the life of mankind. It is shaping life dynamically and putting healthy and at the same time unhealthy pressures on societies, in ways which deserve perceptive attention". -- Intro.
