"'New Songs of Praise' is a collection of one-hundred seventy-one new hymns, most appearing here for the first time. We have included hymns for all elements and occasions of worship. While not intended as a primary hymnal, it offers the contemporary church many new ways to express faith in God. Selah Publishing Co., published the hymnal supplement 'Songs of Rejoicing: Hymns for Worship, Meditation, and Praise' in 1989, and since its publication, we have continued to find good new texts and tunes. But more particularly, we have found authors and composers whose work we admire and think deserves wide use. Selah has published a number of individual hymnaries giving the collected works of contemporary poets and composers, and it is hymns from these collections that make up the largest portion of 'New Songs of Rejoicing'. This supplement shows our faith in congregational song and how it can move and change the church and her people". -- Intro.
