"This volume presents a multidisciplinary Canadian and Polish discussion of some of the central ethical and legal issues in medicine and science that have preoccupied people throughout the world for over twenty years. Collaboration between several Canadian and Polish lawyers, ethicists, and doctors during meetings in Montreal and Warsaw in the mid-1980s led to the idea of exploring similarities and differences in Canadian and Polish thinking on these issues. The introduction, preface, and thirty papers in this volume represent both convergent and widely different points of views. This book mirrors two societies at quite different stages of moral transition in a pluralist, post-modern world". -- back cover.
