- Notes
- Photographs by Larry Easton. The book includes "199 'featured sacred places' in this homage to spiritual life in rural Saskatchewan. The Aboriginal community, the Jewish faith community, and 17 Christian denominations are described in the book" (p. 36). "By nature, coffee-table books are thematic. The reader expects an exploration largely propelled by photos" (p. 37). On page 225 the writers state: "representative buildings were selected for inclusion in this book, as they displayed a somewhat different architectural design, an unusual construction component, or for which an interesting story relating to its history could be located" (p. 37). "To augment the contemporary photos, the authors integrate archival photos into the storytelling" (p. 38). "'Legacy of Worship' is not a history of sacred space in rural Saskatchewan; it is an illustrated, largely anecdotal, nimbly portrayed examination of what may be characterized as the yearning for sacred space" (p. 39).
