- "Bishop Godfrey Mdimi Mhogolo of the diocese of Central Tanganyika died March 28 [2014] following a severe lung infection. Diocese of Niagara bishop Michael Bird, who met Mhogolo at the 2008 Lambeth Conference, described him as 'a personal friend and a real inspiration'. Mhogolo was the first bishop in Tanzania to ordain women and he was 'a strong advocate for the rights of women and children', said Bird. Bird added that he and Mhogolo led a theological dialogue between their two dioceses around the issues of human sexuality that became part of a process of the Anglican Communion-wide dialogue. In a statement, the Anglican Church of Tanzania paid tribute to Mhogolo, saying not only was he a theologian with a 'remarkable intellect', he also had a lot of energy and drive".
