- Notes
- The author is a Volunteer in Mission from the Diocese of Niagara serving in Kandy, Sri Lanka. "It is in the diocese of Kurunagala that I am working as a facilitator of study and discussion on the roles and ministries of women and girls. Kurunagala is a rural diocese of just over 5,700 Anglicans. There are 28 parishes and three private schools divided into two deaneries ... Travel and transportation, money for programs and a dearth of clergy are the diocese's main challenges". "The diocese of Kurunagala is, in its own way and context, attempting to be and become a living, healing, relevant institution within South Asian society today and into the next century a recognizable and present alternative to the capitalism, technology, increasing poverty and concentration of wealth that is moving Sri Lanka away from its former nationalist and socialist values".
