- "The 'Essentials 94' conference, in June 1994, drew about 700 participants to Montreal 'to examine and renew the foundations of their faith in the face of the cultural challenges of a post-modern, post-Christian Canada'. Now 25 essays, most of which were presented at the conference, are being collected as a book. Authors address challenges to biblical authority, the debate over the Jesus of history and his claim as Saviour, changing conceptions of ministry, liturgical innovations, evangelism in Canada's multiculturalism, and biblical teaching on issues of sexuality. The editor, George Egerton, says the book is likely to be controversial because it 'respects Christian orthodoxy, scriptural authority and Anglican tradition'. But, he adds, 'the authors all share a commitment to genuine discourse'. The book will be published by the Anglican Book Centre. It is expected to be available by February 1, 1995".
