- Notes
- "The goal of Habitat for Humanity is to 'eliminate poverty housing from the face of the earth', and it does so one house, and one 'partner family', at a time. The organization works with volunteers and donated materials to build affordable housing. Each family who benefits is expected to contribute 500 hours of labour to the construction; Habitat calls this 'sweat equity'. Walter Jones, the retired Archbishop of Rupert's Land, is one of many Anglicans who have wielded hammer and nails on behalf of the organization. 'It people work together for one another to feed the poor, clothe the naked and help the poor', he notes, 'these things will change the world. This is the front line'. Habitat has a free packet for churches that includes worship resources and suggestions for how individuals can become involved in its work. For more information, contact Allan Grose, Director of Church Relations, Habitat for Humanity Canada, 40 Albert Street, Waterloo ON N2L 3S2; telephone 519-885-4565". [Text of entire article.]
