- "'Hearing Diverse Voices, Seeking Common Ground' is the title of a six-part study program on homosexuality and homosexual relationships. The 1992 General Synod directed that a study should be prepared for use by the church, with response and recommendations to come before the 1995 General Synod. The study, according to the task group that produced it, is intended to solicit 'the mind of the church'. It is not intended to make decisions, but to provide a basis of conversation across the church for future decision-making. In the final session, participants are encouraged to express 'their own voice', and forward their views to the task force for its report to General Synod. 'Hearing Diverse Voices, Seeking Common Ground' attempts to take seriously the biblical record and current biblical scholarship; Anglican tradition; current scientific research; and the witness of gay and lesbian Anglicans. The basic study kit includes participant workbooks (which incorporate instructions for the group facilitator) and a VHS videocassette. The video contains introductions to each session; an edited version of the 1992 General Synod's Forum on Homosexuality; interviews with gay and lesbian Christians; and other resource material. The package of video and workbooks will be available for $39.95 (pricing tentative) from the Anglican Book Centre by October 1, 1994". [Text of entire article.]
