- "The Government of Canada has launched a major review of social programs -- child welfare, homes for the aged, unemployment insurance, pensions, aboriginal programs, social housing, and more. It is anticipated the government will release an 'action plan' in mid-September [1994] and announce a set of public hearings for the Fall. A kit is in preparation to help individual Anglicans consider how they wish to respond. This is an opportunity to express your concerns about social programs, which ones you value and support, how you feel they may be improved. The kit, produced by the Ecumenical Coalition for Economic Justice (ECEJ), is called 'Taking a Stand for Social Programs'." [Text of entire article.]
