- "Are nuclear weapons 'legal' ? The World Court Project, an international coalition, is asking the International Court of Justice to give a ruling. Sponsors say a favourable reception from the court would give legal and public support for an international convention to ban nuclear weapons, promote respect for international law, and encourage peaceworkers throughout the world. The church's Partners in Canadian Mission Unit has recommended the project. Letters of support may be sent to your Member of Parliament and to the Hon. Perrin Beatty, Secretary of State for External Affairs; and opposition critics Lloyd Axworthy (Lib) and Svend Robinson (NDP), at the House of Commons, Ottawa, K1A 0A6 (no postage required). You may also sign a Declaration of Conscience indicating your moral opposition to the use of nuclear weapons. It's part of an easy-to-use 'action kit' available from the Resource Centre".
