- Notes
- Responding to 'Copycats ?' (Letters to the Editor, Mar. 2012, p. 5), the writer states: "In the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, the Apostles' Creed in Morning and Evening Prayer has always said 'descended into hell'. It was only with the Book of Alternative Services that it was changed to 'descended to the dead'. This idea of Jesus' preaching to the spirits in hell probably comes from 1 Peter, which says that, after being put to death, Jesus went and preached to the spirits in prison. It doesn't seem nonsense to think that he would do that". [Text of entire letter.]
