- A letter to the Editor expressing concern that "During the editorial process, a number of changes were made to my article on John Horden. Most of these were stylistic and actually improved upon the original manuscript, but others changed its intent. .... my statement, in reference to the HBC charter (p. 86), that no treaty was negotiated with the local Indians until the twentieth century, was removed. The word 'halfbreeds' (p. 87) should have been included in quotation marks to indicate that it was used by Horden's contemporaries and reflected their folk biology. Similarly, 'blood' (pp. 87, 94) should read ancestry'. Space does not permit me to explain other concerns."
