In March 2000 Canon John Erb visited Labrador for the first time when he attended the Archdeaconry of Labrador Planning and Strategy meeting. The Rev. Canon John Williams, Secretary of the (British based) Fellowship of the Maple Leaf, was also invited and in attendance. While in Labrador Canon Erb met with clergy from a number of parishes. Several of the Labrador clergy are women and most parishes have multiple points which are visited by boat in summer and snowmobile in winter. "The bishop was to hold a confirmation in Rigolet, but the helicopter pilot who was to transport us, had to cancel the flight because of freezing rain in the area. This is the challenge of the area, in that the weather is the determining factor in many instances. Bishop [Donald] Harvey just readjusted his diary for a future visit".
