The new Director describes one week in May 2008 (his third in office) in his new position as the Archbishop of Canterbury's Representative to the Holy See and as Director of the Anglican Centre. The week included his inauguration by Archbishop Rowan Williams who was also in Rome for one of the conversations with Muslims and Christian scholars, called "Building Bridges". The Archbishop of Canterbury met with Pope Benedict XVI and David Richardson was also presented to him. The Centre hosted a dinner for the Building Bridges participants. They also hosted members of the Governors of the Centre who had flown in for the inauguration of the new Director, followed by a reception at the Galleria Doria Pamphilij on Wednesday evening. On Friday he met the new Superior General of the Jesuit order and some of the other individuals at the Vatican with whom he will be in regular contact. On Sunday they went to England for a meeting the next day and a Farewell Reception for Bishop John and Julia Flack at Lambeth Palace.
