- Notes
- In September 2003 SPCK/USA was invited, at the request of Bishop James Tengatenga Bishop of Southern Malawi, to work on a joint project with the Diocese of New York and General Theological Seminary, to collect 10,000 theological books for the Leonard Kumonga Seminary [i.e. Leonard Kamungu Theological College] Library, a new Anglican seminary in Malawi. In the end, SPCK/USA contributed over 6,200 books. Trinity Wall Street bookstore donated approximately 2,900 new volumes and General Theological Seminary donated 1,000. Two Episcopal parishes, one in New York and another in Florida, each contributed $3,000 to cover the cost of shipping the books by container to Malawi.
