Let the Earth Hear His Voice

Notes: The Church of the Province of Tanzania held a two day Mission and Evangelism Consultation in Dodoma [in 2003 ?] with the theme "Let the earth hear his voice". The consultation was facilitated by Bishop Simon Chiwanga and attended by representatives from the church's 19 provinces. Among the challenges identified were: HIV/AIDS, the need for pastoral care and discipleship, training for new clergy, the empowerment of the laity to meet these needs, the departure of some youth to new independent churches and tension in areas with strong Muslim populations. "A strong emphasis was place on the holistic approach to mission and evangelism. The Church needs to be visible in society in reaching out to the whole person, spiritually, emotionally, physically and intellectually". In its report the Consultation also recommended the need for a Provincial Mission and Evangelism Co-ordinator.
