A Moment of History

Notes: A description of the October 2003 visit of Archbishop Rowan and Mrs. Jane Williams to Rome and their meeting with Pope John Paul II on 4 October. Archbishop Williams' visit also included meetings with the staff and clergy of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity and Inter Religious Dialogue. He was joined by Bishops Geoffrey Rowell and Pierre Whalon as well as the Rev. Michael Vono, rector of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church. "The American Church ... with its stunning mosaics, is the home of a Sudanese Refugee Centre as well as a popular spot for classical music and opera performances on the Via Nacional, as well as classic Anglican liturgy on Sundays".
