The author discusses the pain of war in general and "friendly fire" incidents in particular. "As Communications Officer for such a large Communion as ours, I often am confronted with the fact that friendly fire is destroying some of the very good work that has been created in Christ's name over the years." "In the Church it seems we are all too easy [sic i.e. eager] to use the weapons of friendly fire, whether it be gossip, innuendo, speculation or sheer invasion of privacy. I sometimes wonder if we are aware of how badly we can behave towards each other, towards our brothers and sisters in Christ".
