The intention was to enable Church members with a wide variety of departmental interests and responsibilities to give common concern and attention to a single problem. Plans were accordingly made for a day-long consultation including special speakers, small group discussions and plenary sessions centering on the theme `Ministry to a Changing World'. The purpose was defined as follows: `To look at the world situation, to look at our present idea of ministry, (using the word in the widest sense).
