- Notes
- This is "an essentially fair account [of the African Independent Churches] which has been welcomed by church leaders themselves -- an unusual tribute for academic works on AICs". "The author gives sociological and psychological explanations for the development of these churches and the form of Christian faith which they evolved in relative isolation from other churches. She stresses the importance of prophecy, glossolalia, the interpretation of dreams, and healing as means by which sociological tensions are relieved and the community of the church achieves integration. The churches have little understanding of the Incarnation, but the author concludes that they are essentially Trinitarian, and she places them firmly within the parameters of the Christian faith".
