- Notes
- "Mystagogy is the Pedagogy of the Mysteries. In the ancient Church, `the mysteries' commonly meant the sacraments; but in pre-Christian religions, the mysteries were the esoteric secrets -- of whatever sort -- into which a new member was initiated. ... What are we initiated into through Holy Baptism ? What do we begin to experience that has not been experienced before in all the rich experience of the Catechumenate ? Nothing at all, except participation in a sacramental life." Author describes sacrament as: symbol, thing, event and relationship.
