- Prologue
- This problem is an increasing one as more men feel called to take up various forms of work which they feel are forms of ministry. Several cases were reported with respect to which Diocesan bishops desired the guidance of the House.
- The Primate suggested the following guide-rules:
- 1. Clergy should be advised not to commit themselves to secular forms of work without discussing it with their bishops.
- 2. If it appears that they should go into this form of work they should establish an association with some parish.
- 3. If the work takes them into another diocese they should establish a relationship with the bishop of that diocese.
- Text of motion
- "That the Primate be requested to arrange a special meeting of the Canadian House of Bishops at an early date at which there will be adequate time for the discussion of the Office and Work of a Bishop, and of the Ferment in the Church, with special reference to episcopal administration and the vocation of the priests."
