- Prologue
- Archbishop Hutchison reminded the House that the task for the first session on the Windsor Report was to review the document. The presenters for the sessions were: Bishop Tottenham, Bishop Ferris, Bishop Moxley and Bishop Johnson.
- Bishop Tottenham reviewed Section A of the report ('The Purposes & Benefits of Communion'). Bishop Ferris reviewed Section B ('Fundamental Principles') of the report. Bishop Moxley reviewed Section C ('Our Future Life Together'). Bishop Johnson reviewed Section D ('The Maintenance of Communion'). Each of the bishops ran through the main points of the sections they were reviewing.
- Archbishop Hutchison noted that the covenant was listed as an appendix. He requested that the bishops not give the covenant the same weight as the report.
- Archdeacon Boyles reported that he had just returned from the meeting of the ECUSA Executive Council which had also spent time discussing the Windsor Report.
- The General Secretary informed the House of Bishops that the General Synod was collecting responses to the Windsor Report for Archbishop Hutchison to take with him to the Anglican Communion Primates' Meeting in Northern Ireland in February 2005. A Windsor Report Response Task Force has been established to collect responses from the Canadian Church. The task force will meet at the end of January [2005].
- Membership of the Response Task Force includes: Dr. Ellie Johnson (chair), Bishop Michael Bedford-Jones, Bishop Peter Coffin, Ms. Cynthia Haines, the Rev. Canon Linda Nicholls, and two bishops. The House of Bishops was asked to choose two representatives for the Task Force. Bishop Johnson and Bishop Cowan were selected.
- The General Secretary said the task for the day was to answer questions in small groups:
- - What was your reaction to the Windsor Report ?
- - What suggestions do you have to engage diocese[s] and others in responding to the report ?
- The bishops reported back and then held a discussion in plenary.
