- Prologue
- On behalf of the Vice Chairman, Mr. A. Edinborough, the General Secretary presented the following report:
- The Primate's Committee on a Publishing House having already received agreement in principle from the National Executive Committee, has had further conversations with Canon T.D. Somerville, Mr. John Ligertwood, with the consultant on the reorganization of Church House, and some others. They are now prepared to recommend that there should be a publisher and under him a chief editor responsible in conjunction with the departments for the editorial quality of all publications; a production manager who would be responsible for the quality control of printing and design, and a merchandising manager who would be responsible for the wholesale distribution of all Church House publications.
- It is thought at the present time that the retail operation of the Anglican Book Centre should be reassigned either to diocesan book rooms or to interested organizations or book sellers.
- Conversations are continuing and it would be much appreciated if the whole scheme could be brought in for discussion at General Synod.
