- Prologue
- There was no formal report of the Anglican/R.C. Relations Committee. In answer to a query from the Primate regarding an Envoy to the Vatican, Bishop Pierce stated that a representative from the Government had met with a member of the United Church and the Baptist Church. A telegram had been sent to all of the Bishops and the replies indicated a diversity of opinion. It was the feeling that the Primate should make a statement.
- Text of motion
- That the Primate be authorized to make a statement on the matter of the Envoy to the Vatican in similar terms to those which the Primate has expressed to this meeting. CARRIED
- Notes
- It was requested that a copy of the statement be sent to all Bishops. (Copy attached.)
- A report from the Inter-Church Protestant Roman Catholic Relations Committee expressing disapproval of sending an envoy to the Vatican was read by the Ven. E.S. Light. It was agreed to send copies of this report to NEC members.
