- The General Secretary reported on information received shortly before this session, from Minneapolis, where the Associated Church Press of North America had awarded the Canadian Churchman four international awards, from among 190 Anglican, Roman Catholic and Protestant publications.
- The four awards are:
- - Best National Church Newspaper in North America
- - Best editorial entitled "Forgotten people are northern clergy"
- - Best reportage for Carolyn Purden's series on Ireland
- - Best use of photography: the TREND section on the Taize monastic community; and the Primate's visit to Caledonia Diocesan Synod

- THAT the House commends the Canadian Churchman on the receipt of four special awards from the Associated Church Press of North America and for its general excellence;
- and, further, that we commend the staff and editor for their outstanding work in serving our church and winning awards over the past several years. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY IN BOTH ORDERS Act 79
